Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) operates 21 Modern Rice Mills (MRMs) with a total monthly hulling capacity of 52,500 MT. Of these, 15 mills produce Boiled Rice and 6 mills produce Raw Rice. To improve hulling capacity, enhance rice quality, and increase operational efficiency, all 21 Modern Rice Mills were modernized in a phased manner. Phase I: 7 Modern Rice Mills were modernized at a cost of 26.27 Crores. Phase II: Another 7 Modern Rice Mills were modernized at a cost of 32.60 Crores. Phase III: The remaining 7 Modern Rice Mills were modernized at a cost of 36.00 Crores. With the successful completion of all three phases of modernization, all 21 Modern Rice Mills have been commissioned and are presently in operation. The modernization has significantly improved milling efficiency, production capacity, rice quality, and overall operational performance of the mills.
