Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation was established in the year 1972 and mainly involved in the procurement, storage and distribution of essential commodities under the Public Distribution System for more than 54 years.Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation was registered under section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956 (Section 8 of Companies Act, 2013) on 1st April 2010 and functioning as a “No Loss No Profit” Organization.
Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation is headed by a Board of Directors comprising eleven members.
The Corporation is subdivided into 39 Regions, one in each revenue district and two in Chennai city headed by Senior Regional Managers/Regional Managers. The Corporation has 6,688 permanent employees and 8,117 seasonal employees working in the Head office, Regional offices, Godowns, Modern Rice Mills, Fair Price Shops and Amudham Departmental stores all over the state. Besides the above employees, 4,010 loadmen and 31,630 Seasonal loadmen are employed in the godowns, Direct Procurement Centres for paddy and in the modern rice mills of the corporation.

(a) Procurement of Paddy and Ragi from the farmers of Tamil Nadu as an agent of Food Corporation of India under Decentralised Procurement System,
b) Procurement, Storage and Distribution of good quality Rice, Ragi, Sugar, Wheat, Tur Dal, RBD Palmolein Oil and Kerosene to the family card holders of Tamil Nadu through Fair Price Shops.
c) Procurement, Storage and Distribution of other Food and Non-Food Commodities on behalf of Government of Tamil Nadu for other State Welfare Schemes.
